PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a variable focus lens and a method of making a variable focus lens, embodiments of which overcome at least some of the problems of known variable focus lenses, whereby a more commercially attractive product can be obtained. SOLUTION: Variable focus lenses can include: a transparent coating which is at least partially defined by flexible and transparent films and contains a transparent fluid; and a plurality of ducts which are provided on the wall part of the transparent coating for introducing the fluid into the coating.
