PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an indentation tester and an indentation testing method capable of performing the more accurate measurement of an indentation test. SOLUTION: In the indentation testing method using the indentation tester 100, the load curve data low in reliability being the range of testing force smaller than testing force F in the load applying curve of a testing force-indentation depth curve obtained by measurement is eliminated even if there is the erroneous detection related to the contact timing of a penetrator 3 with a sample S to compensate the load applying curve within the eliminated range on the basis of the load curve data relatively high in reliability being the range of testing force larger than the testing force F to adjust the origin. Since the correction related to the contact timing of the penetrator 3 with the sample S can be performed by this method, the more accurate measurement of the indentation test becomes possible in response to the corrected testing force-indentation depth curve.
