A method and an apparatus for controlling the power of a power amplifier are provided to perform power control of the fixed point operation mode by using a microcontroller. An attenuator outputs an attenuation signal by attenuating an input signal according to the power control signal. A power amplifier(160) amplifies an attenuation signal and outputs an amplification signal. A first sensor(121) measures the power of the input signal and calculates a first power value. A second sensor(122) measures the power of an amplification signal and calculates a second power value. A power controller(135) generates a power control signal based on a first power value and a second power value. A second sensing unit measures the power of the amplification signal and calculates the second power value. The power control unit includes a first controller, a second controller, and a power control signal generator. The power control signal generator generates the power control signal by using a first moving average and a second moving average. |
