A status information providing method of a robot cleaner is provided to allow the user to recognize and handle the problem of the robot cleaner rapidly. A status information providing method of a robot cleaner comprises a step of operating a driver unit according to a cleaning start request of user(302,304), a step of determining whether error detection signal was transmitted from a sensor(308), a step of outputting normal operation state information through an output unit if error detection signal was not transmitted(306), and a step of outputting different types of error condition information through the output unit according to the type of the error detection signal if error detection signal was transmitted(312,314).
