A wave powered water pump comprises a double acting pump 9 driven by float 2 which contains ballast 3 to provide upwards and downwards forces under wave action. The pump 9 is mounted on a platform supported by a fully submerged float 21, 22. The float 21, 22 has sufficient displacement to keep the tether 28 taut during the down stroke of the double acting piston 12. The pump may have a manifold with at least two inlet valves 7, 14 and at least two outlet valves 6, 13. The valves may close onto narrow (relatively sharp) valve seats to act as weed and debris cutters. The pump has end stops 4, 11, and the float 2 is provided with impact protection 1. |
