The station (1) has an identification unit identifying each of batteries (8, 9) to be loaded, where the batteries are electrically attached at charging spaces (3-6). A recognition/selecting unit recognizes and/or selects a transponder i.e. radio frequency identification (RFID) transponder, of the batteries. A storage unit stores information of the batteries. A display unit (19) displays the information of the batteries. A control device automatically selects an optimal charging process of the batteries depending on a number of occurred charging cycles. An independent claim is also included for a method for charging batteries of a hand operated and electrically operated tool.
