The device has a cross-bar (2) mounted on a movable carriage that includes a structure (4) on which the cross-bar is arranged. The structure is articulated using a tilt cylinder (4'') placed at the carriage to coincide a gripping unit (3) e.g. suction cups (3', 3'') with a plate. The structure cooperates with a translation unit e.g. telescopic arm, for translating the crossbar in a gripping plane (14). The structure is movably mounted on a connecting rod (6) arranged on the carriage. The rod is articulated such that swing of the rod translates the structure and the crossbar in the plane.
