PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make a chassis dynamometer for four-wheel vehicles which is applicable even to two-wheel vehicles. SOLUTION: The chassis dynamometer 1 is provided with a rotating shaft 2, a fixed roller 3 which is positioned and fitted to the rotating shaft 2 and rotates together with the rotating shaft 2, a movable roller 4, fitted in such a way as to be movable in the axial direction of the rotating shaft 2, a movable roller locking device 5 for fixing the movable roller 4 to the rotating shaft 2 and locking it, a movable roller conveyance device 6 for moving the movable roller 4, whose locking by the locking device 5 is released along the rotating shaft 2, and a movable roller holding device 7 for maintaining the movable roller 4 conveyed to a small-diameter part 2b of the rotating shaft 2 by the conveyance device 6, in a condition where the roller 4 is not in contact with the rotating shaft 2.
