METHOD AND KIT FOR SELECTING EXTRA-HEAVY PANICLE TYPE RICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for selecting grains of extra-heavy panicle type rice having a good ripening property in slighter labor and time than labor and time required in a conventional method for repeating mating, culture and selection and to provide a kit by using the method. SOLUTION: The method for selecting the extra-heavy panicle type rice includes the extraction step for extracting DNA from rice and the detection step for detecting deletion of two cytosines positioned just before translation starting point of OsAGPS2 gene. The kit is used for practicing the method by utilizing a PCR method and includes a primer set having a specific base sequence. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
