PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for treating heavy metals in soil or soil slurry, capable of safely treating even soil or soil slurry containing heavy metals having possibility of forming oxo anions or salt thereof, since there is a case that the soil or soil slurry contains heavy metals harmful for human health, such as, lead, cadmium, mercury, selenium, chromium, arsenic or antimony, which are difficult to immobilize only by a heavy metal scavenger, and which are sometimes formed as oxo anions or salt thereof, causing difficulty of chemically insolubilizing the oxo anions or salt thereof in the past. SOLUTION: In the detoxifying treating method of heavy metals in the soil or soil slurry, sulfates and phosphates are added to the soil or soil slurry containing heavy metals, together with a calcium ion source, for insolubilizing heavy metals.
