The electronic device has a low pass filter to average measured output currents over time and output a current average value signal representing an average output current. An error amplifier (EA3) receives the signal and a current average value adjustment signal (VISET), and outputs a current error signal. A control stage is coupled with the amplifier for controlling a switched voltage converter in response to the error signal such that the converter supplies a preset average current. A light-emitting semiconductor device i.e. LED, is coupled with an output node (OUT). An independent claim is also included for a method for driving a light-emitting semiconductor device.
