RESOLUTION CONVERTING APPARATUS, RESOLUTION CONVERTING METHOD, AND PRE-VIEW DISPLAYING APPARATUS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To speedily convert a high resolution image material encoded by compression encoding method into a low resolution image material.

SOLUTION: When an input unit 12 extracts a high resolution image material encoded by the compression encoding method together with designation of resolution, a CPU 11 converts the resolution to 1/2nof the original resolution in accordance with the designated resolution with conversion of resolution on the frequency with a first conversion processing unit 13. A decoding unit 15 decodes the image material having completed conversion of resolution with the first conversion processing unit 13. In addition, the CPU 11 converts the resolution to the designated resolution with a second conversion processing unit 14 through the spatial conversion of resolution of the decoded image material. A load of the decoding unit 15 can be mitigated with conversion of resolution of the high resolution image material under the condition that the material is encoded with the compression encoding method with the first conversion processing unit 13.
