摘要 The present invention relates to peptides that show significant antiviral activity against viral respiratory disease. More particularly, the invention relates to the use of peptides to inhibit membrane fusion and infection by human metapneumovirus and/or human coronavirus in the prevention and treatment of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) or other severe respiratory diseases caused by these agents. The peptides are derived from the known amino acid sequence of the fusion glycoproteins of each virus.
