A current control apparatus for controlling the current flowing in a thermo-electric cooler, a control method thereof and an optical transceiver having the apparatus are provided to reduce the number of elements included in a circuit by simply configuring a control circuit in a hardware method. A current control apparatus(10) controls the current flowing in a thermo-electric cooler(22) installed within a laser diode module(20). A current supplying unit includes at least one transistor which is turned on/off according to a control voltage. According to on/off states of the transistor, the current supplying unit controls the direction and amount of current which is applied to the thermo-electric cooler. A controller(100) provides an input voltage, decided according to the direction and amount of current, to the current supplying unit.
