<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that an optical information recording and reproducing device which uses holography to record digital information requires an optical system for generating signal light and reference light and irradiating a recording medium with the light beams and, in addition, other optical system for generating a curing light beam for precure and postcure and irradiating the recording medium with the curing light beam, and furthermore, from the viewpoint of downward compatibility, if the same device is used to record or reproduce conventional optical discs represented by a BD, requires other optical system adapted to record or reproduce the optical discs, so that a plurality of optical systems are required, and therefore, the device becomes large. <P>SOLUTION: The reference light beam is used as the curing light beam. Alternatively, a portion of an optical path for the curing light beam and a portion of the reference light beam share a common path. Furthermore, the curing light beam and a light beam for recording or reproducing a BD or an HD DVD are generated by a common light source.
