PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric compressor in which a lubricating oil mixed in a refrigerant is sufficiently supplied to the support part of the rotating shaft of a motor. SOLUTION: A compression mechanism part is formed in a compression mechanism storage chamber inside a compressor housing member. The motor 20 so installed that the rotating shaft 21 is installed generally horizontally when the compressor is installed in a motor storage chamber 5A inside the motor housing member 5. A part of a refrigerant discharge route for discharging the refrigerant discharged from the compression mechanism part forms a main discharge passage 36 allowing one end of the motor storage chamber 5A to communicate with the other end.
