#CMT# #/CMT# The device (11) has an acceleration sensor for producing a signal representing acceleration of an object provided as a vehicle (10) e.g. passenger car. A wheel impulse sensor produces another signal representing a rotation angle of a wheel of the object. The latter signal is subject to indirect comparison with the former signal for determining movement direction of the object. The former signal is generated using a functional unit that applies an acceleration impulse (15) to the object.
