PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle periphery monitoring device capable of more quickly and intuitively acquiring the existing state of noteworthy objects around an own vehicle while using a photographed image. SOLUTION: The vehicle periphery monitoring device displays the images of an on-vehicle camera group for photographing the periphery of the own vehicle, on a mirror-integrated type display unit 1M. The mirror-integrated type display unit 1M has an interior mirror 2M and display devices 2R, 2L integrally and unseparably connected to the interior mirror 2M in a position adjacent to the interior mirror 2M to display images around the own vehicle photographed by the on-vehicle camera group 11, and is mounted into a position visible from a driver's seat in the cabin of the own vehicle. The vehicle periphery monitoring device further includes a display visual confirmation switching mechanism capable of switching between a visual confirmation permitting state of permitting the images around the own vehicle to be visually confirmed in the display devices 2R, 2L, and a visual confirmation impeding state of impeding visual confirmation.
