<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image and sound processor easily generating a sound signal intended by a user with high accuracy, and to provide an imaging apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: An image and sound processing part 30a includes: an image analyzing part 81 for analyzing an input image; a directivity characteristic control part 71 for setting a target directivity characteristic being a directivity characteristic of an input sound signal subjected to control on the basis of an image analysis result of the image analyzing part 81, and controlling the directivity characteristic of the input sound signal so as to achieve the target directivity characteristic; and a display image generating part 82 for superimposing an image showing the target directivity characteristic on the input image to generate a display image.
