PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an outer layer material of a hot rolling roll made by centrifugal casting, which is excellent in wear resistance and an fatigue resistance of the roll surface layer, and to provide a composite roll made by centrifugal casting. SOLUTION: The outer layer material of a hot rolling roll made by centrifugal casting has a composition comprising 2.2-2.6% C, 0.2-0.7% Si, 0.2-0.7% Mn, 5.0-8.0% Cr, 4.4-6.0% Mo, 5.3-7.0% V, 0.6-1.3% Nb so as to satisfy 10.0<Mo+V≤12.5 and 0.6≤C-0.24V-0.13Nb≤1.3 (wherein, Mo, V, C and Nb represent the contents (mass%) of the respective elements), further 0.1-4% Co, and the balance Fe with unavoidable impurities. The composite roll is prepared by integrating a shaft material with the outer layer material by welding. Thus prepared composite roll made by centrifugal casting is excellent in the wear resistance, also is excellent in the fatigue resistance of the surface layer, and is suitable for a roll in a post stage of hot finish rolling.
