The connector (10) has a printed circuit board (PCB) (11) with upper and lower sides, which are arranged with contacts (13). The contacts are connected with an electrical or electronic circuit. The contacts are in electrical contact with a set of counter contacts (27) of a mating plug (25). The PCB includes contact areas (17) at a front side (15), where the contact areas cooperate with another set of counter contacts or the former set of counter contacts in the plug. The contact areas are electrically connected with the circuit over an inner layer, which is arranged inside the PCB.
