The method involves picturing a mark (8) using an optical element i.e. collecting lens (10) on a sensor device i.e. position sensor (5). The sensor device records the pictured mark regarding a specific parameter. Word or image information provided on a laminar article is utilized as the mark. The detection of the mark is verified independent upon comparison of a reference mark that is determined by the sensor device before a recording process regarding a parameter, with the mark that is determined by the sensor device regarding the parameter. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a device for detecting the mark that is provided on the laminar article (2) a device for separation of sections of the laminar article.
