PURPOSE: A device and a method of detecting abnormal driving of strand segment sub-roll are provided to detect the abnormal operation state without separate expensive equipment by using the drive unusual condition of the sub-roll. CONSTITUTION: A device of detecting abnormal driving of strand segment sub-roll comprises a rotating contact terminal(600), a fixed contact terminal holder(400), a fixing contact terminal(800) and a sensor. The rotating contact terminal is formed in one end of the rotary shaft projected to the sub-roll side. The rotating contact terminal is projected in a parallel direction with the central axis of the rotary shaft.
