<p>A method for making totally porous particles 100 comprises; providing a core. particle 110, forming a first coating on the surface of the core particle 120, the first coating comprising a first continuous polymeric phase bonded to the core particle and a first particulate phase dispersed within the first polymeric phase and removing the first continuous polymeric phase. Also disclosed are: A plurality of particles (figure 2, 210) comprised of a porous metal oxide core having a core pore size and one or more porous metal oxide layers surrounding the core wherein at least one of the particles is aggregated with a smaller particle (figure 2, 215). A particle comprising a porous metal oxide core and at least one porous metal oxide layer surrounding the core wherein at least one of the porous metal oxide layers has a different pore structure to another layer. A separation device which utilises the totally porous particles is also disclosed.</p> |
