The invention relates to a gully grating for use, for example, at the side of a road. The gully grating assembly 10 comprises a frame 15 and a gully grating 14. The gully grating is hingedly mounted to the frame at one side (48 figure 3). The frame includes a first engagement means, for example a protrusion (78 figure 5). The gully grating includes a single deformable finger 74 which lies substantially parallel and adjacent to the side of the frame opposite the hinged side when the gully grating is in the closed position in the frame. The deformable finger has a second engagement means, for example a protrusion (182 figure 11) extending from the end of the finger. The first and second engagement means are arranged so that, in the closed position the second engagement means engages with the first engagement means, preventing the gully grating from being opened. The finger is moveable against a resilient bias into a position in which the second engagement means does not engage the first engagement means and the gully grating can be opened. |
