<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To remove a foreign substance in a short period of time with reduced power consumption, the foreign substance affecting focusing using the outputs of focus-detecting pixels of an imaging element. <P>SOLUTION: An imaging apparatus includes an optical member which transmits light from an imaging optical system to the imaging plane of an imaging element and covers the imaging plane to prevent a foreign substance from being adhered to the imaging plane. When removing the foreign substance adhered to the optical member, the foreign substance affecting a focus-detecting pixel couple, the imaging apparatus controls the vibration of the optical member so that the node position of a standing wave of the optical member generated by vibrating the optical member and the position of the optical member transmitting light to the focus-detecting pixel couple do not overlap each other. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
