<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus which can appropriately perform processing (trapping processing) for overlapping pixel data of a plurality of color components. <P>SOLUTION: A trapping processing unit 15 performs binarizing processing to input image data. Furthermore, the trapping processing unit 15 counts the number of pixels, having the same pixel value, continued in main scanning and sub scanning directions, respectively, for each block including each of pixels (pixel of interest) and peripheral pixels for the input image data converted into binary data. On the basis of a count value, the trapping processing unit 15 determines whether or not each block is included in a small-letter area and if it is determined that a block is included in the small-letter area, trapping overlap processing is not performed to the pixel of interest in the center of the block.
