<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stop a reel only by 1-phase and 2-phase excitation without providing a special damping member in the reel of a slot machine. <P>SOLUTION: In a deceleration sequence when rotating a rotary reel at a fixed speed by alternately exciting one phase and two phases of a 4-phase stepping motor, the number of excited winding is checked, the deceleration sequence is not started when the winding of two phases is excited, and the frequency is adjusted, deceleration is performed to stop while maintaining 1-2 phase excitation during rotation when the winding of one phase is excited. In the deceleration sequence, since 3-phase or full-phase excitation is not performed, current consumption is suppressed. The excitation is not needed after the reel is stopped.
