The method involves acquiring an image of a parcel (18) placed on a trihedral reference support (14) by an image sensor (12) e.g. webcam, where the support is formed of vertical side panels (14A, 14B), each having a grid including a preset pitch and defining three-dimensional coordinates with a horizontal ground panel (14C). Edges of the parcel are determined from the image by a processing unit (16) e.g. personal computer. Number of pitches of grid along perpendicular edges of the parcel forming a portion of contour of the parcel is counted by the unit for obtaining each of dimensions in mm. An independent claim is also included for a device for determining dimensions of a parcel comprising a reference trihedral support. |
