<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a speed change operation mechanism that turns a change drum for operating a shift fork of a gear-type speed change device at each prescribed angle in conjunction with the operation of a change pedal. <P>SOLUTION: The speed change operation mechanism comprises: a change arm 12 which is fixed to a change shaft 11, turns around a change axial core O1 at an angle corresponding to an operation amount of the change pedal 24, and has a driving engagement hole 30; and a ratchet mechanism 31 which has a drive pin 33 loosely engaged with the driving engagement hole 30, turns around a drum axial core O3 of the change drum 13 by the turn of the change arm 12, and turns the change drum 13 in an arbitrary turning direction of either of a shift-up direction and a shift-down direction at only a prescribed angle.
