PURPOSE: A water filtering apparatus is provided to expand the life of a motor by preventing the damage of a motor shaft and by minimizing loads generated at the motor. CONSTITUTION: A water filtering apparatus includes a main body(1), a partition(2), a plurality of screens(3), a draining part(4), and a motor(5). A water inlet(111) and an outlet(121) are formed at the main body. A plurality of through holes(21) is formed at the partition. The inner space of the main body is divided into a feed water chamber and a filtering chamber. The partition is installed in the main body. The screens are arranged in the filtering chamber to be installed at the through holes. The screens filter water introduced into the main body. The draining part includes a backwash pipe(41) and a backwash arm(42). The backwash pipe is fixed at one part of the main body by penetrating through the feed water chamber. One end part of the backwash arm is inserted to the backwash pipe. Another end part of the backwash arm is adjacently arranged to the through holes. The motor rotates the backwash arm.
