<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light source device and a projection-type image display device capable of increasing use efficiency of excitation light. <P>SOLUTION: A light source device includes a light source 10 adapted to emit excitation light and a color wheel 20 adapted to rotate around a rotation axis. The color wheel 20 includes a luminous body adapted to emit emission light in accordance with the excitation light, a dichroic mirror film 22A adapted to transmit the excitation light and reflect the emission light, and a dichroic mirror film 22B adapted to reflect at least the excitation light. The luminous body is provided farther away from the light source 10 than the dichroic mirror film 22A and closer to the light source 10 than the dichroic mirror film 22B on an optical path of the excitation light. The excitation light which has transmitted the dichroic mirror film 22A and the excitation light which has reflected at the dichroic mirror film 22B are guided to the luminous body. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
