The method involves heating a gaseous medium e.g. natural gas, before compression of the medium, and compressing the gaseous medium in compression stages (V1, V2) after heating of the medium so as to prevent separation of water by condensation during compression phase. The compressed gaseous medium is subjected to a set of water separators (D1, D2). A set of heat exchangers (E1, E2) is utilized for compressing the gaseous medium. An independent claim is also included for a device for compression of a gaseous medium.
