<p>The invention is used to automatically control occupancy of vehicles at a toll station. Said automatic system comprises means for acquiring images of a vehicle to be controlled, means for processing the acquired images, and means for detecting faces inside the vehicle and counting said faces. A discount is then applied to the toll according to the number of validated occupants.</p>
