<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cutting apparatus capable of changing a cutting direction into various directions. <P>SOLUTION: A cutting apparatus 1 for frictionally cutting an object 25 with a wire saw 20 includes a pair of guide means 2 and 2 which support the wire saw 20 in a travelable manner and which can advance or recede in one direction in the state of supporting the wire saw 20, and a tension adjusting mechanism 10 which adjusts tension of the wire saw 20.
