This transmission device (10) is provided with the following: a generating means that generates a transmission signal containing data to be transmitted; and a transmitting means that transmits, without orthogonal modulation, a packet signal consisting of the aforementioned transmission signal with a preamble signal added thereto. Said preamble signal is an OFDM signal consisting of just the real part (with the imaginary part removed) of a time-domain signal generated by performing an inverse FFT on a frequency-domain signal obtained by allocating preamble data to subcarriers in accordance with a prescribed disposition pattern. Said disposition pattern indicates that, if the plurality of subcarriers are numbered with integers from 0 to N-1 (N being an integer) in order of increasing subcarrier center frequency, preamble data is allocated to one of the subcarriers with numbers less than or equal to N/2-1 but not to any of the subcarriers with numbers greater than N/2-1. |
