The method involves associating three-dimensional virtual images in a two-dimensional plane representing the ground of an urban unit (31). An estimate of the position of a mobile terminal is obtained (33) by a geolocation system. The two-dimensional images formed in the plane are displayed (34) on a screen of the terminal. A portion of an elementary image representing an actual position of the terminal is selected (35), and spatial coordinates of the elementary portion are determined (36). The spatial coordinates are assigned (38) to an observation point, to form a composite image.
