The module has a light source e.g. LED, placed within a reflector (400), and a mobile cover driven in rotation around a vertical axis by a stepper motor. The cover includes a masking plate (306) and a tab (304) whose height is larger than its width. The tab and the masking plate modify a light beam by causing a lateral discontinuity in light intensity of the light beam. The masking plate includes an opening i.e. rectangular shaped slot, and permits passing of the light beam only at the level of the slot. An independent claim is also included for a method for automatically adapting total light beam produced by a set of optical modules of a motor vehicle circulating on a road.
