PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal transfer printer that can appropriately thermal transfer an ink layer and an overprint layer in each print image forming area divided in a width direction of a sheet to be transferred, that can decrease the bending of an ink ribbon by the thermal transfer of the overprint layer, and that can evade the decrease of a print quality originating in the bending.SOLUTION: A thermal transfer printer is provided with a control section that accepts a print command including information concerning a print image forming area divided into a width direction of a sheet to be transferred, and that controls, when being at the overprint layer thermal transfer, in an overprint layer incidental area Ro, so that the thermal energy given to a part Ro2 corresponding to a straight line border region that is a boundary of the print image forming areas that adjoin in a width direction of the sheet to be transferred that can be specified from the print command is lower than the thermal energy given to a part Ro1 corresponding to each print image forming area. |
