PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet transport device and an image forming apparatus which can suppress noise generated when the rear end of the sheet passes through a sheet feeding position.SOLUTION: A printer 10 is provided with a sheet feeder 15. A bottom plate 67 of a sheet cassette 50 in the sheet feeder 15 is provided with an air duct 97 for guiding the air blown from a fan 57 into the sheet cassette 50. In the vicinity of an air blowing inlet 96 of the air duct 97 blown from the fan 57, there is provided with an eccentric rotary plate 58 for opening and closing the air blowing inlet 96. The eccentric rotary plate 58 closes the air blowing inlet 96 when a pickup roller 51 feeds the sheet, and opens the air blowing inlet 96 when the pickup roller 51 does not feed the sheet.
