PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording device and a recording method that can perform a plurality of recording processes of different types on a recording medium without enlarging the device involved in the increase in the number of components and without lowering the throughput of the device involved in the increase in the processing steps.SOLUTION: Provided are a carriage that can freely move in a predetermined direction including a transporting direction of a continuous paper 12; an ink discharge nozzle 32 that is mounted on the carriage and that performs print processing on the continuous paper 12; a coat liquid discharge nozzle 33 that is mounted on the carriage and that forms an overcoat 45 in a recording process region of the continuous paper 12 performed with the print processing by the ink discharge nozzle 32; and a control device that controls the carriage, the ink discharge nozzle 32, and the coat liquid discharge nozzle 33; where the ink discharge nozzle 32 performs the print processing on the continuous paper 12 when the carriage is moving, and the coat liquid discharge nozzle 33 forms the overcoat 45 in the recording process region of the continuous paper 12 transported in the transporting direction when the carriage is stopped. |
