<p>Embodiments of the subject invention are directed to a method and apparatus for measuring torque applied during installation of a helical pile. Specific embodiments relate to a helical pile installation torque measuring and monitoring system for use during helical pile installation. In a specific embodiment, a load cell pin, or torque pin, is incorporated into the drive head and equipment attachment to measure the direct forces, or torque, that is being applied by the drive head as the helical pile is rotated into the ground. The direct forces, or torque, are relayed to a data capturing device, which records the data and, optionally, displays one or more of the following: the forces, the torque created by the forces, the inclination angle of installation, and the downward, or longitudinal, force applied to advance the helical pile.</p> |
