PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device capable of uniformly and continuously releasing an active substance to the extent possible for a prescribed period until several weeks pass.SOLUTION: The device for releasing a fluid active substance has at least one hollow space 20 containing the fluid active substance. The device contains water and a reducing material. The water and the reducing material are made contact such that a chemical reaction therebetween produces a gas in the device, and the gas pressure thus generated presses the fluid active substance out of at least one opening 22 of the hollow space of the device. A medical implant including the device is preferably a hip joint spacer or a knee spacer. A method is provided such that a gas is produced from the medical plant or a hollow space of the medical implant, through a chemical reaction, and the generated gas pressure is used to release the fluid active substance out of at least one opening of the hollow space. |
