A photo-transmitter device (10) comprises a DMT modulation unit which modulates a carrier signal of a specified frequency with an information signal, modulates a carrier signal of a different frequency from the specified frequency with a monitor signal, and generates a DMT modulated signal wherein the information signal and the monitor signal are multiplexed. The photo-transmitter device further comprises an LD unit which photo-converts the DMT modulated signal to an optical DMT modulated signal, and a frequency extraction unit and a frequency analysis unit which extract a harmonic distortion component of the monitor signal from the optical DMT modulated signal. The photo-transmitter device further comprises a bias control unit which controls a bias supply unit which adjusts a bias value which is supplied to the LD unit, such that the harmonic distortion component of the extracted monitor signal is canceled.
