<p>The present invention presents to a letter plate (2) for forming a closure over a letter aperture (12) in a door (10) or the like. The letter plate (2) comprises a frame (4), a sleeve (6) and a letter flap (8). The frame (4) has an external side (26), an internal side(28), and a letter opening (30) therebetween. The external side (26) comprises a lip (42) that, in use, extends around the letter aperture on an outward facing side thereof. The internal side (28) comprises an internal rim (36) extending from the frame (4) such that, in use, the internal rim (36) extends into the letter aperture (12). The sleeve (6)extends from the internal rim (36) in a direction away from the external side (26). The letter flap (8) is pivotally mounted on the internal side (28) of the frame (4) and is movable between a closed position in which the letter flap (8) closes the letter opening (30) and an open position.
