The disclosed solution dynamically selects a handover trigger for triggering handover of a mobile terminal (300) in a wireless network from a source base station (100) to a target base station based (200) on one or more Key Performance indicators (KPls). Each KPI indicates a quality of wireless services provided by the wireless network (50) responsive to a particular handover trigger. A trigger selection circuit (520) selects one of multiple candidate triggers as the handover trigger based on a comparison between corresponding KPIs for different ones of the candidate triggers.
