<p>A main angle-limiting mechanism mechanically limits a relative movement between a vane rotor and a housing within a main angular range. When a rotational phase difference between the vane rotor and the housing becomes out of the main angular range, for example, due to a breakage of the main angle-limiting mechanism, an electronic control unit sets a target value for the rotational phase difference. The target value is set at such a value within a restricted angular range, which is smaller than the main angular range.</p> |
