Radial head prosthesis with floating articular member

A system for replacement of the proximal end of a radial bone, with a prosthesis having a articular member which is movable in a linear path. The prosthesis 50 includes a head portion 52 connected or connectable to a stem portion 84, the head portion 52 having an ulnar articulation surface 72 and a humeral articulation surface 68. Movable articular surface 68 is provided on a dish member 54 which moves transversely or laterally with respect to the axis 122 defined by the stem portion, along a linear path 120. The head 52 may form a cup 76 into which is inserted the dish 54 and a retainer 110 to enable the plate to move. The ulnar articulation surface may be fixed relative to the stem, the mobile bearing (fig 17) or neither (fig 18A).
