The device (1) has segments (6) provided along supporting legs (2), identically constructed, and connected with each other to form a closed, platform-far clamping chain (3). A platform-far clamping jaw (18) and a platform-side clamping jaw (19) are spaced at a distance from each other. A platform-far arm (21) and a platform-side arm (22) are arranged at segment inner sides and pivoted around an outer axis running in a circumferential direction. One of the jaws is arranged at inner ends of the arms. The jaws together form a clamping cross-section that is variable in a size by pivoting the arms.
