PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that, since a line is not captured of an automatic answering machine does not respond to an incoming call in a communication apparatus which is operating in an automatic answering TEL mode, even when a facsimile signal is incoming, it is not recognized as facsimile signal reception and a facsimile receiving operation cannot be performed.SOLUTION: A communication apparatus to which an automatic answering machine is connected and which is capable of performing facsimile communication, and a control method thereof are disclosed. When it is detected that call incoming is extinguished under a mode where the automatic answering machine responds to an incoming call, the measurement of time is started by a call re-incoming timer and when next call incoming is detected before time-up of the call re-incoming timer, the measurement of time is started by an automatic answering machine monitoring timer for measuring an automatic answering machine response time. The automatic answering machine does not capture a line until the time-up of the automatic answering machine monitoring timer and in the case where the call incoming is not extinguished, reception processing of a facsimile signal is started. |
